Our 26-point inspection
No surprises. No pressure. Everything in writing.
You shouldn't have to take a mechanic's word for it. Every vehicle at Harold's gets our 26-point inspection, the same checklist our technicians have used for years, and we go over it with you before any work is authorized.
We inspect, top to bottom
Your technician works through all 26 points: lights, fluids, filters, battery, belts, cooling, driveline, steering, exhaust, brakes, tires and suspension. Each one is marked OK or needs attention, with a note on what they found.
We call and walk you through it
Your service advisor calls with the results and a written estimate, item by item. What needs attention now, what can wait, and what it costs. Ask anything.
You approve only what you want
Nothing starts until you say so. Approve the whole estimate or just part of it. The items you defer are noted on your record so we can remind you when they're actually due, and you keep the completed checklist.
What's on the 26-point inspection
- Lights, wiper blades and tire pressure on all four corners
- Fluids: antifreeze, brake, clutch, power steering and transmission
- Engine air filter and emissions filter
- Battery: state of charge, health and cold-cranking amps
- Belts, cooling system (radiator, water pump, hoses, freeze plugs) and oil leaks
- Front and rear differentials, transfer case, transaxle and transmission
- Power steering, CV boots and U-joints, shocks and struts
- Muffler and exhaust, fuel system and lines
- Front and rear brakes: pads, rotors, calipers, shoes, parking brake and leaks
- Tires and suspension: wear and alignment
The inspection is included with every oil change and most services. A standalone safety inspection is available if you just want a look.

Trust is the whole business
We'll show you the worn part at the counter if you want to see it. You decide with the same information we have.
Yellow means yellow
Not everything needs fixing today. We tell you what can wait and roughly how long, and we follow up when it's actually due instead of upselling now.
Your history, on file
Every inspection and invoice stays attached to your vehicle in our system. Selling the car? Ask us for the full record.
Common questions
Does the inspection cost extra?
No. It's included with oil changes and most repairs. A standalone safety inspection has a small fee that's waived if you have the work done here.
How do I get the results?
Your service advisor calls you to go over the checklist and the estimate, and you get the completed sheet when you pick up. If you're waiting at the shop, we go over it at the counter.
Will you pressure me on the yellow items?
No. Yellow means "monitor." We note it, you decide, and we remind you when it's getting close. Many customers plan yellow items for their next oil change.
Can I see the problem myself?
Yes. Ask your advisor and, where it's safe to do so, we'll show you the worn part or walk you out to the vehicle.
